Recently at the school I teach at we sent home a list of interactive websites that parents can work through with their children. I thought i'd recopy the list so that you can use these websites with your children. I'll eventually go through each individual site and if they aren't posted on here i'll post them up.

Spelling City

Spelling City is an excellent website that contains spelling games and allows students to create their own spelling lists and play spelling games with these spelling words. These games can be played individually or as a whole class. Spelling City offers a subscription program but it isn't a compulsory purchase. Access the website here.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a home learning tool that is completely free for students. It is an excellent website that is more suited towards late primary or secondary school students. The website can be viewed here.

Mathletics

Mathletics is a wonderful online resource, it's not free but parents can subscribe for a small amount per year. Some schools offer Mathletics as part of the school package. The program can be used for 6 year olds up to Year 9 students. The website can be found here.

Reading Eggs

Reading Eggs is an excellent online resource, it requires a subscription but parents can get a 2 week free trial directly from the website. Reading Eggs will help pre school children with their phonics skills and students in school can reinforce their letter knowledge. Senior Primary School students can also use the accompanying program Reading Eggspress to help with their comprehension. The Reading Eggs website can be found here. 

Elmer The Elephant

Elmer The Elephant is an excellent book that can demonstrate values to children. You can almost do a complete Literacy unit of work on it and I've uploaded a variety of different resources in a RAR document, so that you can begin to work with Elmer the Elephant. Download the resources here.

Phonics Song

There are many phonics songs on youtube, but I find this one to be the best. It's catchy, the kids love it and it's easy to understand, it can be viewed here.

Alphabetimals - Alphabet

Alphabetimals is an excellent website where children can flick through an alphabet book and listen to the sounds, the website can be found here. Children can also create their own name in the alphabetimals style and the video to accompany the book can be found here. You can also download a free Alphabetimals poster here.

Reading Posters

Reading is very important and having eading posters up in your classroom is an excellent idea. Download some very cool, inspired posters from here.

Working with colours

In our Level One team Colours is a topic that is only touched upon quickly, maybe for a few lessons at the beginning or end of the term, as such we utilise a lot of interactive whiteboard activities to explain colours, because the children are tired (either at the beginning or the end of term!)

Topmarks Educational Search Engine

TopMarks is an educational search engine with a wide variety of resources. You can search the "Search Engine" or simply click on a few links to find the latest resources. It's well worth bookmarking.

100 Days of School

With the 100 Days of School creeping up in North America lots of resources are coming through, FirstGradeFever has a book up for download that the children can create. Check it out here.

100 Days At School

The 100 Days At School may have passed in North America but for Australians school is only just going back and 100 Days at School is still over 99 days away! Technology Rocks has some more cool ideas for 100 Days here.

Social Media - Before you post...

Cybersafety is something I take very seriously and Technology Rocks has an awesome poster that you can download which should be hung up in every classroom that has access to a computer. Download the posters here.

THINK before you speak

Technology Rocks has an awesome resource (that can be viewed and downloaded here) which is a nice way to introduce values in your classroom. This poster would be nice to display. 

Prezi -

Prezi is an awesome presentation tool and one that is significantly better than Microsoft Powerpoint. It's hard to describe, but basically Prezi is an enhanced version of Powerpoint, all data is stored in the cloud and there are some awesome ways to display your content, in a much more engaging way.
